Logic & Reason

Hulu.com is great. Full length movies and TV shows in high quality (as long as you have a fast enough internet connection).

Here is “Inherit the Wind”, a movie made for television in 1999 that was a remake of the classic film from 1960 with Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly. This version is with the great Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott. There have been three television remakes total, this one being the latest incarnation. All movies were originally based off of the play which was based on an actual court case that happened in 1925 in Tennessee.

Here is the plot summary from imdb:

This is another re-enactment of the play about the trial in 1925 of a school teacher who dared to teach Darwinian theory in his classroom. He did this as a consequence of one of his student’s request to know… The student was a lad named ‘Stebbins’, and the trial (dubbed the ‘Monkey Trial’) pitted the great attorney of the day, Clarence Darrow, against the often running presidential candidate, and famous orator, William Jennings Bryan.

Since the original 1960 film isn’t on Hulu (yet) this one will have to do. I highly recommend this movie. It makes important points on what makes the USA a great country and also points out some of the things that are very wrong. Evolution versus Creationism.
